House League

NEW FOR 2019 – in response to our member feedback and wishes – House League now runs two leagues, a NEW one every Monday morning from 8:00 – 10:00 am and, as in prior years, our Monday evening league with expanded hours from 6:30 – 10:30 pm starting mid-May until mid-August (excluding the August Civic Holiday).

House League is open to members at all levels, and provides an opportunity to get regular guaranteed doubles games (Mixed, Ladies’ and Men’s doubles) and meet new members and possibly new tennis partners through a team-based, fun event. It is one of our most popular activities in which games are played and arranged according to your level, Line 1, Line 2, Line 3 and Line 4 (evening league only). When players register for House League, they will be asked to indicate their level of play ( Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, Line 4), and will be divided into teams which will contain members at all these levels.

For the evening league; we have eight teams (with approximately 12 members on each team) and the format is as follows: two teams will play three matches against each other at 6:30 pm, two other teams at 7:30 pm, and two more at 8:30 pm, and the remaining teams at 9:30 pm.

For our NEW morning league: we will have four teams (with approximately 12 members on each team) and the format is as follows: two teams will play three matches against each other at 8:00 am, two other teams at 9:00 am.

For all House League matches, the emphasis is on competitive fun and getting to play with lots of members. Please note that due to the high number of participants, play is not guaranteed for everyone every week.

Because House League is so popular, we can only accommodate a maximum number of participants and registration is required which is sent out in April through our newsletter, Between the Lines. Even if we reach our capacity level, we often need spares, so if members are interested in subbing from time to time, please let our Games Director know and we will put you on our “spares” list.

For the House League to run, volunteers are needed to lead and co-ordinate the program.  Our Games Director is looking for people who are willing to be captains/co-captains–so any members willing to help out, please contact Games@lawrenceparktennisclub.ca. This is one of our most popular events and cannot run itself so please consider volunteering to lead a team.

Each year we have a House League social event with a nominal charge.  The House League Captains and participants determine when it is best held and the best format.
